FAQ electricity

Where are the municipal solar power plants that produce the photovoltaic energy that makes upesun andemix products?

The Commune owns 12 facilities, most of which are located on its own buildings .3 new plants are currently under construction. The Commune owns 6 installations, the majority of which are located on its own buildings. 5 new power stations are under construction.

In addition to the municipal power stations, approximately 230power plants privately owned, also produce electricity which is injected into the Yverdon grid. The Commune buys back the electricity for a large part of them.

The ten largest installations alone account for half of Yverdon's solar energy production, which is expected to reach 6,000,000 kWh by 2019.

Where does non-renewable electricity come from?

This is essentially electricity generated in nuclear power plants.

What is the ecological impact if I change my product?

By choosingesun oremix products, I contribute to the development of renewable energies in Yverdon-les-Bains and support the Commune in its sustainability objectives.

How is the ecological added value ofesun andemix products calculated?

The calculation takes into account the production costs of each technology (Swiss hydropower and Yverdon photovoltaic) and their share in each product.

How would a product change affect my annual electricity bill?

The annual cost difference depends on the actual consumption of my household. It is possible to refer to the last annual statement to check my household's consumption trend in kWh.

Examples of costs and tariff differences depending on the product chosen for the "single BT" tariff category (amounts including VAT but excluding the fixed subscription of CHF 77.-):

Example of annual consumption Type of consumer eecoreference price (in single BT tariff*) Difference when choosing emix Difference when choosing the esun product
700 kWh 1pers small housing CHF 244.- + CHF 5.- + CHF 20.
1'500 kWh 2pers average dwelling CHF 523.- + CHF 10.- + CHF 42.-
2'500 kWh 3pers average dwelling CHF 872.- + CHF 16.- + CHF 70

6'000 KWh 4pers villa CHF 2094.- + CHF 39.- + CHF 168.-

* For the tariff category "double BT", please also refer to the last annual statement. The surcharge per product applies for each kWh, regardless of whether it is consumed during the day or at night (peak/off-peak hours).

If you have any doubts about the annual household consumption or if you are unsure about the estimated calculation, please do not hesitate to contact our customer service at 024 423 65 55.

Can I choose more than one product for my power supply?

No, a meter or measuring point can only be linked with one product at a time.

How is the origin of the energy used in Yverdon-les-Bains Energies products declared?

The energy that makes up our electricity supply is declared in the product mix in accordance with the Energy Ordinance (EOne). In the event of demand for electricity products that exceeds the availability on the market, Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies will endeavour to replace the missing energy with equivalent or lower quality electricity. The selling price will be adjusted accordingly.

How are the different energies channeled to my home?

Since our network is supplied by several sources, all the energy is found in the same pipes. The laws of physics do not allow us to sort the electrons or molecules of the energies to deliver them to each customer according to their choice. As a result, Yverdon-les-Bains Energies is committed to supplying itself in accordance with customer demand and in line with their choice of energy.

In order to ensure conformity of supply and sale according to the choices of our customers, we publish the energy marking once a year. This document certifies that the supply is in conformity with the subscription of the products by our customers. That is, that the equivalent of each customer's consumption is injected into the network according to their energy choice.

Which tariff category am I in (single or double LV, LV power A or B)?

This information is available on the latest annual statement. We will be happy to provide you with information on request. The differences between these rates are described on the rate card.

When and at what cost can I change products?

A product change during a calendar year is possible with 15 days notice for the end of a quarter. An amount of CHF 50 (excl. VAT) will be charged to cover administrative and meter reading costs. The change is not charged if the change is made 15 days before the end of a year.

Can I change my product over the phone?

A request by telephone is not sufficient, a written request via a reply coupon or subscription form is mandatory. It is also possible to subscribe via our online form.

Will my deposit increase depending on the product I choose?

Yes for all customers who receive an annual invoice the deposit will take into account the choice of product.

What is market liberalisation?

The Swiss electricity market is governed by the Swiss Federal Act on the Electricity Market (StromVG) and its Implementing Ordinance (StromVG) of 23 March 2007. This law has been in force since1 January 2009 and since that date, customers reaching or consuming more than 100,000 kWh/year per consumption point have the choice of remaining at the regulated tariff of their historical supplier or requesting a market offer from the latter or another competing supplier.

What is an eligible client?

This is a customer who, in the twelve months preceding the last meter reading, has reached a consumption of 100,000 kWh/year or more.

What is an elected client?

It is a customer who fulfils the conditions for access to the free market and who has asserted this right.

What is a captive customer?

This is a customer who consumes less than 100'000kWh/year. Therefore, this type of customer does not have the possibility to access the free market.

Is a client eligible for the obligation to subscribe to an open market offer?

Access to the free market is not mandatory. A customer who has reached a consumption of 100'000kWh/year for one or more of its sites can choose to remain at the regulated tariff with its historical supplier.

What is the regulated tariff?

This is the tariff applied by a local energy supplier (e.g. Yverdon-les-Bains Energies). You can consult the tariff categories of Yverdon-les-Bains Energies by clicking here.

What is the legal deadline for subscribing to an open market offer?

An eligible customer may request to exercise its right of access to the open market at any time. It has until October 31 of the current year to announce its exit from the regulated tariff, and no earlier than January1 of the following year.

What part of my energy supply is open to competition?

A bill for the supply of electrical energy consists of three components: energy, transmission and taxes. The energy part is the only one that is subject to competition. The other two remain monopolistic activities.

Once a market offer has been accepted, is it possible to return to the regulated tariff?

This aspect is governed by the law (LApEI) in which the principle of "once elected, always elected" prevails. Subscribing to a market offer implies a definitive exit from the current regulated tariff system.

However, the incumbent supplier has the obligation to supply a customer who would no longer have a contract. The energy price will then be determined by the supplier based on market conditions and must be applied fairly.
