Light pollution

Because of its desire to systematically reduce public lighting in the event of inactivity, Yverdon-les-Bains is actively committed to reducing light pollution.

The first effects are already visible on http://www.lightpollutionmap.info. A difference is already noticeable in the Prés-du-Lac area!

It should be noted that a perverse effect of LED lighting is to increase light pollution (the halo enveloping an illuminated area). This is due to the wavelengths of the light emitted. The closer it is to blue, the more it radiates!

Yverdon-les-Bains Energie therefore follows the recommendations of the Dark-Sky Switzerlandassociation.

5-point recommendations to reduce light pollution

  1. Necessity (fundamental aspect)
  2. Protection and shades (spatial aspect)
  3. Lighting direction (planning aspect)
  4. ype and lighting intensity (requirements)
  5. Time limitation (time aspect)

All new lamps installed in Yverdon-les-Bains are therefore labelled "full cut off" and with a colour temperature of 3000 K (warm white).
