Every year, some 400 water samples are taken on the basis of a risk analysis of the network and the guidelines set out in SVGW Guideline W12. The latter is a guide to good practice for drinking water distributors, approved by the Swiss Federal Office of Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (FOSV).

From a bacteriological and chemical point of view, continuous monitoring of Yverdon-les-Bains water quality ensures that the water distributed poses no risk to health. Free chlorine levels in the network are kept below legal limits (max 0.1 mg/l). The concentration of organic matter in the water is also below legal limits.
