Since1 May 2015, Yverdon-les-Bains has had its first two public charging stations for electric vehicles, installed by the Energy Department. The Municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains wishes to continue the development of this public network from 2016, which complements the private stations existing on the Y-PARC and HEIG-VD sites.
On1 May 2015, the Yverdon-les-Bains Energy Department (SEY) put into service the first two public charging stations for electric vehicles in the city, developed by Green Motion, a company based in French-speaking Switzerland that designs, produces and distributes these charging systems. These two stations have been installed in strategic locations: on the Ancien-Stand car park, in the immediate vicinity of the station, and on the car park of the ice rink, in the Rives-du-Lac leisure zone. They complement the private bollards existing on the Y-PARC site and on the site of the Vaud School of Engineering and Management, and thus offer a new alternative to the ever-increasing number of users of electric vehicles in Switzerland.
This installation marks the first step in a public charging network for electric vehicles. The following phases, which could start as early as 2016, will aim to densify the network and will be carried out after analysis of the frequency of use of the first terminals. This densification of the network of recharging sites for electric vehicles is part of the energy policy of the City of Yverdon-les-Bains, which encourages the use of clean energy and supports the development of energy production from sustainable sources. It should be noted that the two new charging stations are powered exclusively by electric current produced from solar power plants located in Yverdon-les-Bains.
The installed bollards are produced in French-speaking Switzerland. Each terminal offers the possibility of quickly and simultaneously recharging two vehicles with a power of 22 kW, i.e. a recharging time ranging from 30 min to 2 h depending on the vehicle connected. They also allow the connection of scooters and quadricycles. Two methods of payment will enable the costs of the energy consumed to be paid for, either by means of a prepaid EV-Pass card available from Green Motion or by credit card for subscribers to another network. For a full tank, the cardholder will pay between 3 and 4 francs, depending on the vehicle.
