In Switzerland, three quarters of buildings are heated with fossil fuels (52% with oil and 21% with gas). In addition to emitting a significant amount of greenhouse gases, the use of fossil fuels emits pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and carbon monoxide (CO), as well as fine dust that is harmful to health.
Today, there are technical alternatives that make it possible to produce heat more efficiently and cost-effectively. For example, an oil-fired installation, even a recent one, produces 10 times more greenhouse gas emissions than a wood-fired installation or the electricity required for heat pump heating.
In order to further encourage the energy improvement of Yverdon's building stock, the Commune, through equiwatt, allocates a subsidy in addition to the cantonal subsidy for the replacement of an electric, gas or oil heating system with a heat pump or wood heating system.

RECOMMENDATION FOR OWNERS
- Anticipate the replacement of your heating system: If your heating system is ten years old or more, you should already be planning its replacement, so that you have the budget available when the time comes. Look at which energy resource is recommended for the area you live in
- Carry out a CEBS®Plus energy audit of your building: this will enable you to define a renovation strategy and to correctly size your heating system according to your needs
- Déposez votre projet à l’enquête publique (si nécessaire) pour obtenir l’autorisation de construire
- Request several bids for the work and apply for the cantonal subsidy before carrying out the work
- Carry out the work and apply for the municipal grant
