As of 1 January 2019, Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies is introducing flat-rate rates for low-voltage electrical connections and reducing the connection fee. This is intended to make its tariffs easier to understand and to remain competitive with the prices applied by other distribution system operators.
Until now, low-voltage electrical connections were billed in the specifications based on the number of metres between the switchgear cabinet and the cabinet/station. Since since the 1980s, the connections have been largely direct, i.e. without a diversion box, customers furthest away from the cabinet/station pay more. This represented a disparity in financing costs that was perceived as unequal treatment among customers.
The new package rates have been grouped into two groups: one group ranging from 20 to 63 amps (A) and one group ranging from 80 to 125 amps (A). The first group is charged at a flat rate of CHF 5,756 excluding VAT and the second group CHF 8,198 excluding VAT. Any request for more than 125A of cabled current will be subject to a quotation. The customer therefore contributes to the price of a standard connection according to the category in which he is located. This package includes the provision of the pipes in the public domain (including civil engineering if necessary), the cable, the introduction box, the supply of the pipes to be laid on his plot of land and the labour for the connections. The civil engineering works on the owner's plot remain at his expense.
These new packages remain competitive with the prices applied by other distribution system operators.
The connection charge will decrease from CHF 195/A in 2018 to CHF 156/A in 2019 for low voltage and from CHF 235/kVA in 2018 to CHF 142/kVA in 2019 for medium voltage. This is also intended to be within the range of prices charged by other distributors.
