Since a few days, the rue du Midi is again functional. Budget respected, deadlines met, specifications respected, so many reassuring elements after the completion of work on one of the most important traffic arteries in Yverdon-les-Bains. To thank the local residents, a party will be organised in the spring.
Following the opening to traffic, last July, of a first sector of rue du Midi between the Canal Oriental and the Rogers-de-Guimps crossroads, the City of Yverdon-les-Bains is pleased to announce the end of renewal work on an additional section between rue Roger-de-Guimps and the Moulins crossroads.
Accepted on 6 October 2016 by the Municipal Council for an amount of 7.3 million francs, the work on the rue du Midi was carried out over 18 months without any major problems, within the budget. The numerous City departments and various service providers actively contributed to the project, which enabled the entire renewal of the wastewater and sewerage pipes, water and gas pipes, electricity supply, traffic lights and public lighting.
Regular information points for the population, conducted by Yverdon-les-Bains Energies, have enabled adjustments to be made to limit the nuisance caused by the works, in order to minimise the inconvenience to local residents and shopkeepers as much as possible.
Finishing work, such as the installation of the sound-absorbent cladding and the installation of the final traffic lights, will be carried out after the winter. Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies will organise a moment of conviviality with the local residents and shopkeepers of the rue du Midi when the fine weather returns to celebrate the completion of this work site and thank all those involved in the project.
Aware of the nuisances endured throughout the construction site, the Municipality of Yverdon-les-Bains thanks the inhabitants and shopkeepers for their patience.
