An energy city since 2010, Yverdon-les-Bains, the second largest city in the canton of Vaud, is perfectly in line with the Vaud Cantonal Energy Concept adopted in June 2019 by the State Council. With its galloping demography (its population is expected to grow from 30,000 to 40,000 by 2025) and the arrival of numerous companies in its science and technology park on its outskirts, the city faces many challenges to be in line with the Canton's long-term energy vision.
Aware of the challenge of reconciling economic prosperity with ecological issues, Yverdon-Énergies has therefore shifted into high gear by acting on both supply - energy solutions - and demand - consumption habits.
In terms of solutions, Yverdon-Énergies has expanded its offer with electricity and natural gas products with renewable components, while developing district heating networks using natural or mainly renewable gas in line with regional energy planning.
On the demand side, Yverdon-Énergies has developed a vast programme to encourage energy savings through auditing and support measures for the renovation of buildings, the production of renewable energy or promoting alternative mobility using electricity or natural gas.
And to measure the effects of the measures deployed, Yverdon-énergies has had a fibreoptic networksince June 2019, which will eventually enable it to communicate with the city's 25,000 electricity, natural gas and water meters and to visualise the evolution of energy consumption andCO2 emissions, building by building, district by district.
Together, let's reduce our environmental footprint. And let's accelerate the Energy Transition!
