District heating (CAD) is a system that distributes thermal energy to an entire neighbourhood or city through an underground network of pipes that transports superheated water to consumers. It replaces individual boiler rooms and covers heating and domestic hot water needs.
The CAD-STEP project of the city of Yverdon-les-Bains, consists in recovering the energy produced by the WWTP by purifying wastewater, to heat initiallyseven municipal buildings (the Collège des Rives, the new fire station, La Marive, the skating rink, the swimming pool, the Municipal Stadium and the building of the city's Energy Department), then the future Gare-Lac district.

Take a video tour of the route the CAD (District Heating) will take to supply several buildings in the city with energy produced by the city's WWTP. A construction site put in image to show you the extent of this project, but also the number of buildings that will be supplied with district heating.
The challenge for the fields was to be able to make the lawns of sports fields conducive to to be used for the training of athletes. Not only has the agenda been respected, but in addition, the work carried out on this part of the section has been finished a little earlier than expected.
During the opening of several trenches and at different points along the route, it was necessary to set up this water pumping system. As the CAD route runs above the water table, it was mandatory to avoid flooding the trenches, both for the safety of the workers and to be able to open the trenches for the CAD pipelines.
Professional welders have made sure that each weld is made with care to guarantee the tightness of each connection.
These welds were then checked one by one by another company, which uses films that are placed on each connection to make a kind of "photograph" or radio taken in several shots. These photographs are then analysed to ensure that each weld has the same thickness and the same quality of workmanship.
