The price of natural gas in Yverdon-les-Bains is modified to take into account the increase in prices on the international markets and the unfavourable variation in the euro-Swiss franc exchange rate. All tariff bands are impacted. However, a slight reduction in the CO2 tax - from 1,744 ct/kWh to 1,738 ct/kWh - moderates this impact.
As a result, all natural gas customers will see their bill including tax increase by approximately 10% in 2019. For example, a family house of 4 people will pay on average 14.85 francs more per month. While this increase will be 75 francs per month on average for a car body.
Compared to the price these customers would pay if they lived in other neighbouring municipalities, Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies' 2019 tariffs are slightly below market prices despite the planned increase. Compared with fuel oil, which has risen by more than 20% over the same period, natural gas remains very competitive, while emitting 25% less CO2 and practically no fine particles.
As far as natural gas fuel is concerned, Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies supports this less polluting alternative and in 2019 maintains the price at 0.99 ct. per litre including tax, i.e. almost 60 cents less per litre than other fuels.
The electricity sector is also affected by rising costs on international markets and the effects of exchange rates. The average supply price for 2019 is approximately 22% higher than in 2018. However, following the comments of the independent federal regulatory authority in the electricity sector (formulated in 2017), the Yverdon electricity transmission tariffs have been adjusted downwards for households and have remained unchanged for industrial customers. All in all, households (98% of the customer base) will therefore not be affected by their total electricity bill including tax.
On the other hand, manufacturers (the remaining 2% of the customer base) will see their bills increase by 5% on average. For example, for a craftsman-baker the increase will represent 18.75 francs per month. Electricity tariffs in Yverdon-les-Bains are still below market prices.
