Electricity from non-renewable sources

In 2011, the Federal Council and Parliament have decided to phase out nuclear energy and to move away from fossil fuels. This will ultimately lead to the total renunciation of this type of energy.

This is why, in order to guarantee the development of a new energy policy supported at federal, cantonal and local level, Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies intends to ensure a secure, economic and local energy supply while reducing its impact on the environment.

The option of unknown origin or no ecological value consists mainly of electricity generated in foreign nuclear or thermal power plants. This option is available to budget-conscious people. However, Yverdon-les-Bains Énergies does not favour this option, as it runs counter to the objectives set by the Commune as well as to cantonal and federal energy policy.
