From1 January to 31 December 2014, the City of Yverdon-les-Bains, through the Energy Department (SEY), is extending an action implemented in 2013 aimed at reducing the electricity consumption of its inhabitants: it will subsidise the purchase of new energy-efficient household appliances. This action is part of the City's responsible consumption policy.
In view of the success of this grant, which began in March 2013 and has made it possible to replace 119 appliances and thus generate savings of more than 32,000 kWh per year, i.e. the annual consumption of nearly 9 households, the Municipality has decided to renew this action. The latter encourages households wishing to reduce their ecological impact and, at the same time, substantially reduce their energy bills.
An amount of up to CHF 50,000, allocated by the "Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Fund" managed by the Energy Advisory Commission, will be used to finance an incentive to replace old household appliances with the most efficient models on the market. For example, a refrigerator of energy efficiency class A+++ consumes on average one third less energy than a new model of class A++. Compared to a model that is ten years old or more, the electrical energy absorbed will be divided by three.
This aid, which can be up to Fr. 300 depending on the type of appliance, will be reimbursed after an old appliance has been replaced, on presentation of the appropriate form and a copy of the invoice. It is limited to residents of the commune and businesses in Yverdon.
Through this action, which may be renewed in the future, the City of Yverdon-les-Bains, which has been awarded the Cité de l'énergie label since October 2010, wishes to raise awareness among its population of the importance of the theme of "energy efficiency", which represents the first pillar of the Federal Council's Energy Strategy 2050.
